In this video I’m testing the DJI Mic 3 — DJI’s newest tiny wireless mic system — and the big question is the controversial one: no 3.5mm input for a lav mic. I go through what you actually get for that trade-off: 32-bit float internal recording, dual file backup (one clean, one with your presets/noise reduction), adaptive gain control, voice tone presets (regular/rich/bright), and two levels of noise cancellation. I also show the whole kit: the carrying case, the charging case (which I love because it fits everything), and the receiver with a touchscreen + dial, plus the locking adapter system. I break down real-world workflow stuff too: battery life (8 hours TX, 10 hours RX, and the case adds up to 28 hours), storage (32GB built-in per transmitter), and how it integrates with DJI cameras like the Osmo Pocket 3 and Action 5 Pro via DJI Osmo Audio. Then I do audio comparisons against DJI Mic 2 and the Sennheiser Profile Wireless, including outdoor noise and wind, plus samples of noise cancellation and voice presets so you can judge the sound yourself. My take: for most creators, the missing 3.5mm isn’t a dealbreaker — these tiny transmitters are so convenient that for YouTube/social content they basically replace lavs most of the time. For higher-end needs, I’d still keep a system that accepts lavs, but I can see myself using the Mic 3 for 90% of my work.
