HOW TO ENJOY TRAVEL WITH A TODDLER! ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW TO MAKE FLYING WITH A TODDLER A SUCCESS! Let's discuss tips for travel with a toddler, Montessori aligned travel activities, handling potty learning/ toilet training while traveling, what to do when there's a flight delay, navigating a travel stroller and car seat at the airport, how to prepare a toddler for travel and how to set up the hotel for toddler independence! We have traveled plenty as a family before having a child. But travel with a toddler is definitely quite different than travel as two adults! If we take the time to prepare our child for the travel ahead, especially when flying with a toddler! I've had some great questions from you all, which are very similar to the questions I had myself about flying with a toddler! How to get a toddler ready for their flight? How to continue incorporating Montessori principles while traveling? As we are well on our way in the potty training / toilet learning journey, I of course wondered what would happen with that - I'm happy to share what worked for us! And yes, we did choose to navigate the airport with our travel stroller AND a car seat. So I'll be sharing what navigating a car seat in an airport looks like as well! And of course, we can't forget to discuss the ACTIVITIES that we prepare for our toddler to keep them busy on the plane. I'm not about busy bags, busy boards, or a million pieces that can get lost on the plane. And while we DID prepare an iPad just in case all else failed, we hoped to remain screen free if possible and much to our surprise, we were able to have a smooth flight both ways without even considering screentime. Let's also not forget how we can set up our final destination during a vacation to still have Montessori principles in mind! About This Video

In this video I’m sharing exactly how we traveled with our toddler (Stella, 2.5) and kept it as smooth as possible—while still staying Montessori-aligned. I walk through what we did before the trip, during travel (car and plane), and how we set up our hotel so she could still be independent. A big reminder: every child’s temperament is different, and even with great planning, delays and overstimulation can throw off the “perfect schedule.” The biggest thing that helped us was preparing Stella for what to expect in a way she could understand—anchoring travel to her daily rhythm, using simple airport/airplane books, and practicing solutions ahead of time (like kid-safe headphones for loud noise). I also involved her in packing by giving her a small suitcase just for her activities and letting her choose from parent-approved options, because travel is such an adult-led experience and toddlers deserve some control. I also share what actually worked for us on the plane: simple, contained activities (not a million tiny pieces), lots of movement before boarding, and saving “new” items for the plane to keep the novelty. I talk about potty learning while traveling (we used pull-ups just for the travel portion), and how we handled the stroller + car seat at the airport and on the plane. Finally, I show how I set up the hotel with accessible clothes, a simple activity “shelf,” and a toiletry setup so she could keep doing things for herself.
