Hey guys! In this video I’m tackling what was honestly a complete disaster of a game room in our new house. This makeover happened over multiple days because life has been a lot—selling our old house (30 showings), moving, unpacking, and I was also dealing with bronchitis. But this room finally forced my hand because it started smelling… and I discovered why: my 5-year-old filled a water bottle with milk and left it in here. Rotten milk is so gross, but that’s just real life with kids, and mess usually begets mess. I start by unpacking the last of the boxes, trashing what needs to go, and setting up a system that actually works for a busy family of six (plus our golden retriever, Winnie). My plan is to store most of the boys’ toys in the game room using cube organizers and big bins—because it makes the room feel clean and put together fast, even if the kids destroy it an hour later. I also talk through why I’m not getting rid of all the toys (my kids really do use them), how I’m creating boundaries for my 3-year-old’s dolls, and why sometimes you have to let “perfect organization” go and just get it unpacked. The goal here is simple: reset the space, make it functional, and make it easier for the kids to keep up with from here on out.
