Hey guys—today I hit my limit with the kids’ toys and I decided I was DONE. I grabbed the super big black trash bags (black is non-negotiable, because if the kids can see through them… that’s a problem) and I filled up four or five bags just getting rid of the overwhelm. If you’ve been here awhile, you know toys are the thing I’ve struggled to declutter the most, and I finally got to the point where organizing every little thing just wasn’t worth my time anymore. The biggest wake-up call was my son Jack (he’s five, almost six). He loves toys, especially army guys, but he had so many that it started to overwhelm him and he didn’t even want to play. That’s when it really clicked: too many toys can actually kill creativity and make clean-up impossible. So I kept only specific categories that my kids truly use—like a smaller, curated set of army guys for Jack, and Barbie/baby doll stuff for my daughter (most of that is moving into her room so she has her own little girly haven). This declutter wasn’t about being perfect—it was about getting my time back, lowering the mental load, and making our home run more efficiently as a busy homeschool mom. Getting rid of all that stuff felt truly freeing, like a literal weight fell off my shoulders.
