It’s personal, it saves us money, and you can truly customize it to whatever you already have at home. I’m making a matching mother-daughter woodland deer costume, and I walk you through two simple pieces that can totally transform a basic outfit: an iron-on vinyl t-shirt and a DIY headband. First, I show how I design and cut an iron-on decal in Cricut Design Space (including using templates, measuring, and mirroring your image). I also share a few real-life tips I learned while crafting—like how glitter iron-on is gorgeous but harder to weed, why heat resistant tape is a lifesaver, and how preheating your shirt and using a lint remover helps everything adhere better. Then I challenge myself with new materials for the headband—felt and faux leather—plus a little trial and error with blades (rotary blade for felt was a game changer). We finish it off with tutus, and it’s such a cute, budget-friendly costume you can pull together fast.
