In this video I put three jerry cans side by side: the Wavian NATO fuel can that everybody calls “the best,” the Midwest can you can grab at Harbor Freight, and a cheaper Amazon can that looks the part but isn’t built the same. I go over what you’re actually paying for, what I like, and what I’d change—because yeah, at the end of the day it’s a gas can, but some are made way better than others. The Wavian is all metal, fully sealed with that latching design (so you’re not venting vapors), and it’s heavy—about 11 lbs empty. It’s also got an internal lining to help with rust, which is why I don’t put water in these. The Midwest can is strikingly similar in construction—same recessed center seam, similar welds, and even matching markings in the same places—so I honestly think they’re probably coming out of the same factory, with the big functional difference being the spout (latch vs screw cap). The cheaper Amazon can is lighter, has an exposed seam, spot-welded handles, no filter, and no good way to store the spout, which all adds up to “lower quality” for about the same money as the Midwest.
