Today I'm taking the air dam off of my 2025 Tacoma. I also share my thoughts about taking it off as opposed to leaving it on and reasoning for both.

About This Video
In this video I’m taking the air dam off my 2025 Tacoma and giving you the real-world reasons to remove it—or keep it on. A lot of people just hate the look of that big plastic piece hanging down, but the bigger deal for me is ground clearance. I show how easy it is to remove (it’s basically about nine screws), and I explain the one part people should pay attention to: some of the screws actually hold the fender liner down, so I put those back in so the liner isn’t loose and flapping around.
I also talk through the pros and cons. On the downside, the air dam sits low enough that it can bump snowbanks, scrape on curbs/parking blocks, and in deeper snow it can basically act like a snow plow—plus it has the potential to get caught and possibly mess up your bumper. On the upside, Toyota put it there for a reason: it helps aerodynamics, can improve stability at higher speeds, and from what I’ve seen you might gain around 1 MPG. For me, I’m taking it off to take advantage of the clearance, and I’m planning to add a Toyota skid plate underneath in a separate video.
