Ozark Trail has made another great knife. This one has a 12c27 blade, G10 handles, and a button lock. What do you think? Thanks for watching as always. Contact: mnwoodland@gmail.com

About This Video

In this video I’m checking out another new Ozark Trail release: the Elevation 7 1/2" folding knife. It’s running a 3 1/4" 12C27 blade, green G10 scales, and—interestingly—a button lock instead of the crossbar lock they’ve been using lately. If you’re familiar with Benchmade, you’ll probably recognize what it’s “inspired by,” because the handle/blade vibe is very close to the Taggedout (right down to the orange lanyard loop), just with a different lock choice. I go over the build, the steel, and the value at about $25. 12C27 is a solid budget stainless (it’s the steel used on most Mora knives), and I like the idea of a stonewashed blade for real use instead of a coating. I also do a quick sharpness check—mine wasn’t quite as ripping sharp as the Ozark Trail Valor I reviewed before, but it’s still good and easy to touch up. One big thing to keep in mind: with a button lock, your grip can land right on the button, so you need to be mindful not to accidentally unlock it while cutting. Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with what Ozark Trail has been doing lately. These newer knives feel like a step above the “junky” reputation Ozark Trail used to have, and they can compete with a lot of budget brands—sometimes even ones that cost more.
