Fixing a Saw I Got For Free

Free tools are great, especially ones that can be fixed easily. This saw was given to me for free and it just needed a little work to get it going again. Thanks for watching. About This Video

Someone handed me a Porter-Cable saw for free, and I’m always down to mess with free tools—especially when the fix is simple. In this video I go through what was wrong with it in the state I got it: no blade, and the bigger issue was the plug had a missing prong. Before I do anything else, I brush it off and hit it with an air gun to get all the dust and cobwebs out of the way. To get it running again, I swap the damaged end out with a plug replacement. The saw is an older two-prong setup, and the replacement I had on hand is a three-prong plug with a ground. No big deal—I just don’t have a ground wire to hook up on this saw, but it’ll still work. After that, I throw a blade on it and test it. It ended up being an easy fix, the saw runs great, and for a free tool, I can’t complain about that.
