Have you ever wanted to just drop everything and leave? That’s literally what we did. Back in 2023 we made a pretty wild agreement: leave San Francisco, move in with Lindsey’s parents to save money, quit our dream jobs, and take a full year to travel the world. This video is the official start—getting from Atlanta to Bangkok (with a very humbling sprint through the Istanbul airport), then walking around Thailand answering the questions we’ve been asked nonstop. We talk through what our “dream jobs” actually were (Caleb as a software developer at an early-stage startup in the Bay Area, Lindsey in tax consulting at a big firm), and why we walked away anyway—burnout, the travel bug, and realizing we’d rather change direction now than get too far down a path that wasn’t us. We also share what planning really looked like (we’ve got about six months roughly planned, around three months booked), how we told friends and family, and how we’re budgeting $100/day total ($50 each). We also get super practical: what we did with all our stuff (spoiler: we still somehow needed a 5x8 trailer), where our pets Luna and Olive are staying, and how we’re eating cheap in Bangkok (street food and mall food courts are clutch).
