Indian Railways operates one of the world's largest railway networks, connecting virtually every corner of the country and moving an astounding 24 million passengers daily. We'd heard mixed reviews about train travel in India - some travelers swear by it as the best way to see the country, while others have had challenging experiences. We decided there was no substitute for experiencing it ourselves. For just $20 each, we secured first-class AC sleeper tickets from Jaipur to Delhi, departing at 4:25am. The early morning departure meant navigating Jaipur station. What we didn't expect was the initial confusion of not knowing which car or bunk was ours - our tickets didn't include that crucial information! Thankfully, a friendly local and helpful train conductor pointed us in the right direction. The 6-hour journey gave us plenty of time to explore our first-class cabin. The scenery between Jaipur and Delhi showcased India's diverse landscapes, from rural villages to bustling towns. What surprised us most was how organized and efficient the system actually is, despite the initial confusion. From the detailed passenger lists posted outside each car to the punctual food service, Indian Railways has systems in place that work remarkably well once you understand them. This authentic look at Indian train travel shows both the impressive infrastructure and the learning curve that comes with navigating India's unique travel systems for the first time. #IndiaTrainTravel #IndianRailways #JaipurToDelhi #FirstClassTrain #TrainTravel #IndiaTravel #BudgetTravel #RailwayJourney #TravelVlog #IndiaTransportation #TrainLife

About This Video

Today we’re boarding our first ever train in India, and we’re not gonna lie—we were pretty confused. We booked last minute, so we ended up with a 4:25am departure from Jaipur to Delhi on Indian Railways, first-class AC sleeper, for about $20 each. The station was way more crowded than we expected at 4 in the morning, and because we booked through a third party (12Go Asia), our ticket basically told us… nothing. No platform, no coach, no bunk numbers—just the train number and the class—so we were kind of wandering around trying to piece it together as we went. We finally got onto the train with what we’d call “medium certainty,” then did the longest walk through car after car, half convinced first class didn’t even exist. A conductor eventually helped us find the very last car and our room, and once we knew we were actually in the right place, everything got way more comfortable. We show you the first-class room setup (four bunks, seats that convert, AC that was honestly a little chilly), do a quick bathroom tour (both squat + western toilet), and grab coffee from a vendor walking through the train. Big takeaway: India train travel can be super doable and even really nice—just don’t underestimate how much easier it is if you have an Indian phone number, because a lot of the “how do I find my coach/seat” systems seem built around that.
