We're Lindsey and Caleb, and starting January 2025, we decided to quit our jobs, pack as much as we could into a few carry ons, and travel around the world. Join us as we take on adventures like staying in Thailand's most unique accommodations, trekking to Everest base camp, and motorcycling the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam. Our self-guided food tour through Cebu, Philippines explored why Filipino cuisine remains one of the world's most underrated. Starting at Silog Ni Gian for breakfast platters, we hit the legendary House of Lechon for Cebu's most famous dish, then tried adobo at Top of Cebu, lumpia at Balamban Liempo, and finished with halo-halo at Sol's. Filipino food perfectly blends Spanish, Chinese, Malay, and American influences while maintaining its own distinct identity - from breakfast silog culture to the iconic lechon that Cebu has perfected over generations. After eating our way through the city and experiencing these incredible flavors, we're convinced Filipino cuisine deserves a much bigger place on the international food scene and that the Philippines should be on every food lover's travel list. #FilipinoFood #Cebu #Philippines #Lechon #FoodTour #Silog #Adobo #Lumpia #HaloHalo #PhilippinesTravel #CebuFood #StreetFood #TravelVlog #FoodieTravel #AsianFood

About This Video

When you search for the most underrated food in the world, the Philippines comes up again and again—so we flew to Cebu to actually put that claim to the test. This was our first time ever in the Philippines, and we built a self-guided food tour by basically doing what we always do: pulling up Google reviews, picking spots that looked legit, and walking (or grabbing a Grab) from meal to meal. We started with silog platters for breakfast—garlic rice, a fried egg, and your choice of meat—and honestly, it was the sleeper hit of the day. Don’t judge a book by its cover, because that “simple” plate absolutely blew us away (and it was under 150 pesos, which is wild). From there we hit House of Lechon for the iconic whole roasted pig, then chased golden hour views for adobo (we tried both chicken and pork, and the nola style was the one for me—super easy to eat, like pulled pork). We wrapped the night in a packed street food market with lumpia (high bar because Lindsey’s step-grandma makes it at home), and finally halo-halo—our first time—where you “mix mix” everything together. After a full day of eating, we’re leaving you with the same question: is Filipino food the most underrated in the world… and what did we miss?
