About This Video

Vietnam is home to some of the best coffee in the world, but in this video we weren’t just chasing “good coffee” — we were hunting down the most unique cafes in Ho Chi Minh City. We started with Little Hanoi Egg Coffee and tried egg coffee for the first time (spoiler: it’s not just a gimmick — it’s whipped, sweet, kind of marshmallow-y, and the coffee still punches through). Then we went straight from trendy to timeless at the city’s oldest coffee shop, watching the traditional “sock” (cloth) filter method up close — including pouring already-brewed coffee back through the filter, which explains why it hits so hard. From there we climbed the Cafe Apartment: nine floors of cafes and shops in an old apartment building (and yes, you pay for the elevator, so we walked). We grabbed salt coffee for the views, then came back on day two for the wildly instagrammable King Koi Coffee with massive koi fish — and honestly, it exceeded our expectations with reasonable prices and a super chill vibe. We also explored a historically significant cafe that’s hiding underground bunkers from the 1960s war era, and we ended at the most “only in Vietnam” concept ever: a cafe where you literally get a bed with your coffee purchase. It was the perfect way to use coffee shops as a fun excuse to explore more of the city.
