Capsule hotels no cap 💯 We stayed in 3 capsule hotels across Tokyo — one for $10 a night, one for $50, and one for $100. From the cheapest bare-bones capsule to the sleek mid-range option and finally the luxury high-end pod, we wanted to see if the most expensive capsule hotel is really worth 10x the price of the cheapest one. We’re Lindsey and Caleb, and starting January 2025, we decided to quit our jobs, pack as much as we could into a few carry ons, and travel around the world. Join us as we take on adventures like staying in Thailand’s most unique accommodations, trekking to Everest base camp, and motorcycling the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam. Our Tokyo capsule hotel challenge put three very different stays head-to-head: the cheapest $10 option, a $50 mid-range pod, and a $100 luxury capsule. Capsule hotels started as quick overnight stays for Japanese salarymen, but now they’ve become a must-try for travelers. Comparing all three back-to-back gave us the full picture of what you actually get at each price point — from ultra-basic to surprisingly high-tech and comfortable. #CapsuleHotel #TokyoJapan #JapanTravel #BudgetTravel #TokyoCapsuleHotel #JapanVlog #TravelVlog #JapaneseHotels #TokyoTravel #JapanTrip #BudgetAccommodation #UniqueHotels

About This Video

Over the next few days in Tokyo, we checked into three capsule hotels at three totally different price points—about $13, $50, and $100—to see if the most expensive pod is actually worth 10x the cheapest one. Capsule hotels are kind of a tourist rite of passage (right up there with ramen and Shibuya Crossing), and we’ve been fascinated by them for years, so we poured through tons of listings and reviews to pick what we thought were the best options. First up was Capsule Hotel Suzie Moria, our budget stay. Honestly, it shocked us—in a good way. The beds were super comfortable, the pods felt surprisingly spacious, the Wi‑Fi was fantastic, and the men’s showers were a legit 10/10 with hot water and tons of pressure. The only real downside was it got a little warm in the capsule (and our fans didn’t work), plus it’s about a half-hour train ride from the main tourist zone. Then we tried a flying-themed mid-range capsule hotel (First Cabin) with a ton of free amenities (including hair ties), complimentary pajamas, and really nice common areas. Finally, we stayed at Book and Bed in Shinjuku—an insanely cozy bookstore-themed capsule hotel with amazing vibes and views, even if the actual “room” is basically a wooden box with a mattress. In the end, we both loved the mid-range experience, but Caleb still couldn’t get over how good the $13 stay was.
