About This Video

What’s up, dudes? In this video I’m checking out the Melonare MA-1 mini guitar amp and doing a straight-up review/demo: specs, features, and how it actually sounds when you plug in and start playing. I literally unboxed it and figured it out with you in real time (yes, I was pressing buttons like a caveman), and I also explain why the camera setup looks different—long story short, mold disaster, lost a ton of gear, so we’re making do with the phone for now. Feature-wise, this little dude is way more loaded than you’d expect for a sub-$100 practice amp: clean and overdrive modes, gain/tone/reverb controls, Bluetooth, aux input, headphone jack, and a built-in drum machine/metronome with 30 rhythm patterns plus tap tempo. Tone-wise, the clean channel surprised me—in a good way. It’s got this rich, velvety clean sound with reverb that can get super lush, and I’d honestly give the clean section an 8/10. The overdrive is more “classic rock” than metal and feels a bit shrill/tiny to my ears, so I’m at about a 6/10 there. Overall, for around $64 on Amazon, I think it’s a steal if you want a portable beginner practice amp with rhythms and battery power (up to about 7 hours). Just keep realistic expectations—this isn’t a half stack, but for what it is, it’s pretty solid.
