In this livestream, I’m basically doing what I love most: hanging out with you guys, talking guitar, and nerding out on how I actually see the fretboard when I’m playing metal (and everything around it). I talk about why practicing at night feels different, what it’s like working from home and teaching all day, and I even rant a bit about why I keep Nightbot around—because I had legit bot raids before and it was a mess. We get into the good stuff: how I visualize “layers” on the neck—pentatonics, triads, modes, chord shapes, and arpeggios all living in the same position instead of being separate boxes. I show how simple note-stacking turns an A minor idea into stuff like Fmaj7 and Dm9/Dm11, and how diatonic shapes connect (like Gmaj7 vs B minor thinking). I also demo my process for learning songs by ear live: find the key by listening for the bass/root, test with pentatonic/scale shapes, then slow it down and transcribe note-for-note if needed (I chart it in TuxGuitar/Guitar Pro style). On top of that, I answer questions on economy vs alternate picking, tremolo picking mechanics, and how I think about modes (parallel vibe more than “parent scale” math).
