What’s up, dudes? In this quick realtalk video, I’m addressing something I’ve been seeing more lately: those backhanded-compliment comments where somebody’s trying to debate me on theory or technique, or basically sneak in a “my way is better than yours.” I’m not here for a competition, and I’m definitely not interested in comparing anything. I’m on my own journey trying to become a better version of me, and that’s the whole point of what I do—shred, learn, practice, repeat. I’m also keeping it real: I’m not perfect. I can’t play everything perfectly, and I don’t know everything in the music theory universe. So when I’m looking to level up, I seek out actual master-level players and teachers—people with cleaner technique, faster hands, deeper theory—because they’ve proven they know their craft. I’m open-minded and I believe you can learn something from anybody, but I’m careful about the input I take in and how I use it. If you truly think you’ve got better chops than me, cool—show me. Tag me in a video and teach me something. I love being humbled, and I’m always trying to grow.
