I get asked a lot, “How did you get so good at guitar?” and I’m gonna be real with you: I don’t think I’m that good. I’m decent, sure—but there are guys way above me, and I never want you to think I’m sitting here acting like some untouchable guitar god. This video is me breaking down what actually got me to the level I’m at, and it’s not some magical “talent” story. I didn’t go to college—I didn’t even graduate high school. I was on my own at 16, homeless off and on, and I still kept playing. I was self-taught for the first two years, then I had teachers off and on, had to unlearn bad habits, and I still take lessons occasionally from people who are way above me in skill and theory because it keeps me sharp. The big takeaway is consistency and mindset: I wasn’t competing with other people, I was competing with myself—better today than yesterday. Show up every day, do the work even when you don’t feel like it, and stop looking for a 30-day “unlock.” It’s hard, it’s frustrating sometimes, but those are the days that matter most. Keep grinding.
