In Part 2 of this little mini series, I’m getting stuck into the stuff that actually makes this tired old Evolve Gen 1 turn into a proper 4WD weapon: the battery build and the wiring. This is the stage where it stops being “a board with parts on it” and starts becoming a system—power delivery, layout, cable routing, and making sure everything is going to survive real riding and not just look neat on the bench. I build up the new battery pack and then move on to wiring up the motor controllers, because with 4WD you’ve got more going on—more connections, more places to mess it up, and more reason to be tidy and deliberate. The big takeaway here is planning: where everything sits, how the wiring runs, and how you’re going to service it later without ripping the whole board apart. If you’re doing your own DIY electric skateboard build, this is the part to slow down, double-check polarity, and make it solid—because once it’s buttoned up, you want to be riding it, not chasing gremlins.
