About This Video

After about 30+ hours in Windrose, I put together the hidden mechanics and “wish I knew sooner” tricks that will save you a ton of time and frustration. First thing: stop throwing away extra resources. You’re going to drown in wood, stone, copper, and random loot, and the fastest way to burn out in a survival game is re-grinding stuff you already had. I recommend keeping a couple dump/junk chests at base and only dropping items on the ground if you literally have no choice. I also break down comfort level (a mechanic a lot of players are sleeping on). The big play is placing one item from each decoration category to push comfort up—duplicates in the same category don’t stack, but trophies do. And whatever your highest comfort base is, your ship mimics it, so you can keep that rested bonus while you’re out on the seas. From there, I cover why the dismantling/recycling bench is basically free materials (including ship parts like old cannons), why you should aggressively upgrade gear and ship due to level-based damage buffs/debuffs, and a clutch naval combat trick: drop a wharf on a nearby coastline for a fast, full repair. Finally, I show a co-op recipe “sharing” trick (drop/pick up gear to learn recipes), the two Tortuga NPC hires that are absolutely worth 500 coins each, and a video setting (global illumination) that can make caves way brighter for mining.
