In this stream I tried to “fix” what I called the most creative keyboard I own: the KBDCraft Lego keyboard. It’s a 50% low-profile board built from actual Lego bricks, and the concept is genuinely sick… but living with it is a different story. Every time I touch or move it, something pops off, and because it’s basically a perfect square layout, typing on it feels weird. On top of that, the sound is super muted, and sound is my #1 criteria—if it doesn’t sound good, I’m not touching it. I tested a switch swap using a low-profile silent switch from a Keebio AJ68 (I removed the silicone dampeners so it’s not silent anymore). Even with the swap—and even after my usual tape mod—the board still came out “thocky” in a bad way: just quiet and dull, not satisfying. I debated PE foam, but honestly low profiles just don’t hit for me, especially when the plate is some unknown 3D-printed material. The big takeaway: KBDCraft is super creative and underrated as a gift (especially for Lego lovers), but if you’re chasing sound and stability, this Lego low-profile setup will test your patience.
