In this video I basically roast my own $150 Hall effect addiction and show why I’m way more excited about TMR now. I’m reviewing the Skyloong GK68 MIX, a $90-ish board that still keeps the gaming features, but adds the big thing: a mechanical socket plus an HE sensor, so you can run both switch types. That hybrid setup is the whole point—HE where you want speed, and normal mechanical switches everywhere else so the board can actually sound and feel good for daily typing. I go through what you get in the box (wireless dongle, tools, extra switches, etc.), the design (futuristic curve, aluminum case, and somehow it still has a kickstand), and the stuff gamers care about: web-based driver and features. Then I open it up (because apparently I don’t follow the trend) and you can see the foam, silicone, batteries, and screw-in stabs. The big “why does it feel mushy?” moment comes from Skyloong using silicone instead of a traditional plate—good for hollow-ness/RGB/feel, but you might need to push it down if certain keys feel weird. For modding, I keep the silicone in, do a tape mod little moment, and swap to Miglin Cream Mint for a creamy build, with a silicone vs no-silicone comparison. My takeaway: GK68 MIX is a solid, high-quality gaming board (I didn’t find major flaws… besides the ones I created), and TMR is just too good to ignore—faster and more precise than Hall effect, and way more practical if you care about sound and switch options.
