Building an expensive weird keyboard!!!!

About This Video

Today was an actual “what if this works?” kind of build. I pulled out the WhiteFox Eclipse (low case version), which is one of the weirder, more innovative boards I’ve touched—magnetic case closure, magnetic mounting vibes, removable magnetic kickstand… and then somehow it still has a million screws. It’s also got this slightly odd 65%-ish layout with extra side keys, plus a delete key sitting near a backspace key, which is a choice. Stock, it came with Gateron Milky Yellows and pre-lubed PCB stabs, and I already had it PE-foamed and tape-modded from before. For the “expensive weird” part, I swapped only the alpha switches to KTT Cabbage Tofu V2 (linear, 5-pin, with a light diffuser) and left Milky Yellows on the stabilized keys because I like my stabs deeper anyway. The result? A sound profile that’s… honestly questionable. It’s kind of creamy on the clacky side, medium volume, with a bit of tick on certain keys, and I kept going back and forth on whether I even liked it. The board has cool engineering and a clean Apple-ish keycap vibe, but in 2026 terms it lands as pretty average—interesting features, not an instant “go buy this” recommendation.
