BUILDING A BUDGET SILENT KEYBOARD

About This Video

In this build, I tried to put together a budget silent keyboard setup without turning it into a total mush-fest. I used the Migland V75 (the one that’s around $80) and started with a quick stock sound test—honestly, the stock board already sounded way better than I expected for the price. The whole “screen that turns into a knob” thing is still one of my favorite gimmicks because it’s actually useful, and it’s wild you get both options on a budget board. Then I cracked it open (and yeah… it was way harder than it should’ve been). Inside, there’s silicone and foam already, and for a silent build I decided to keep all the foam—because if you remove it, you’re basically asking for the switches to smack the PCB and ruin the whole point. The main swap was the Echo Penguin Silent switches, which are a rare combo: tactile + silent + budget-friendly. The result is definitely quiet—like a cleaner, fuller membrane vibe—but you still get tactile feedback. If you can’t have the sound, you better have the feel.
