I’m finally getting back to this cute little retro spring junk journal, and in Part 2 I’m basically letting you peek inside my brain while I figure out what papers actually belong in this thing. I made the cover with y’all on a live a while back, and I already had some pages pulled—some are from a little journal I picked up and disassembled, and some are inky pages I’ve had in my stash. The problem was… I wasn’t quite feeling it yet. Something was missing, and I was also totally stumped on what to do for the inside cover. So in this video I dig through my inky backgrounds, gel prints, ghost prints, mica spray pieces, and even some thicker cardstock options that are better for pockets and tags than actual pages. I talk through what colors are working (and what’s just too orangey), how I’m trying to tie in the red from the cover, and why purple is always going to sneak in because it’s my favorite. I also share my plan to coffee dye the backs to tone things down and make everything feel more cohesive, plus a fun idea to cut smaller bits from my prints and use them as little page embellishments. By the end, I’ve got a real stack of options and a plan that’s starting to develop.
