Hi everyone, welcome back. In this video I turned the camera on while I was making those Kentucky Derby purse charms (and yes—you can totally use these as junk journal dangles too). I give you a closer look at the Derby charms I showed in the live, and I walk you through how I’m layering beads, spacer beads, bead caps, and themed charms like the horse, jockey silks, martini glass, horseshoe, and of course a rose. I’m using heavier duty jump rings (the heavy gauge kind) because I want these to hold up, and I show you my little “trick” for getting the charm to hang the direction I want. I also make two different styles: the long dangle style and the horizontal style that clips onto two purse handles. I talk about how I measure my chain (I’m making them about 10 inches) and how I place five charms so it looks balanced—starting in the middle makes it so much easier. We chat Derby and Oaks (pink for Oaks Day!), and I share why I’m making colorways like pink, blue, red, and black-and-white so people can coordinate with their outfits.
