Hi everyone, Sandy here (Kentucky Krafter), and in this video I’m just getting together with y’all to play—using wallpaper scraps to make easy, high-end looking journal cards and journal cover toppers. I’m working with pieces that are about 5x7 inches, and I talk through how I like to back them later on cream cardstock, coffee-dyed paper, ledger paper, or even chipboard, depending on how sturdy I want them. Wallpaper is such a hidden gem because it’s already thick, and some of it has that subtle embossing that makes everything look extra special without doing a bunch of work. I’m also using those really fun silk-style flowers from my Taperlogy haul (I pop the centers out and usually use two layers), plus whatever I can pull from my stash—paper doilies, labels, little tickets, lace, butterflies, and a little bit of bling. I show you how I build quick clusters, how I decide when something’s getting “lost” and needs framing (like lace behind an image), and I remind y’all: we make mistakes, we just pivot and fix our mistakes. By the end, I’ve got three finished examples with different color palettes, and you can totally take this same idea and mass-make a whole stack. Ink the edges, add stitching if you want, and you’ve got pretty little pieces ready to tuck into any junk journal.
