Hey y’all—this is part 3 of my retro spring junk journal, and in this video I’m working on the inside cover and starting to pull all my pages together. I show you the pocket setup I made with that denim/blue-jean looking paper, plus I add a really cute floral washi strip down the middle for a little pop of color. I also walk through a real-time “oops” moment with my hole placement, and how I fix it by adjusting the hole and adding hole reinforcers (and inking them up) so it still looks finished and sturdy. Then we get into the fun part—checking out how my coffee-dyed gelli print pages turned out. I didn’t go super heavy with the coffee dye, but it gave everything a nice subtle tone-down that I really love. I talk through deciding page direction, trimming vs. keeping deckled edges, tearing the pages down, and inking edges (yes, I’m nervous cutting into my gel prints—but I’m doing it!). I also share ideas for the next steps like adding spritzing/stenciling on the backs, sewing details, trims, page extensions, and more washi along the edges. By the end, the journal is getting nice and chunky, with that rainbow look of inky pages that just makes me happy.
