In this video I turned the camera on for a little play and made an easy no-sew hinge binding junk journal using the Tim Holtz Orange Palette paper pack. I was inspired by Gi Kerr’s version of this style, and I love how “fun and freeing” this method is—there’s really no rules. I cut my pages down, mixed decorative pages with plainer book pages, and used simple hinges (ledger offcuts, skinny paper strips, and even fabric) to connect everything together. Some pages I folded a little edge to create the hinge, and other pages I added a hinge strip right onto the back—super beginner-friendly. I also played with adding lace and scrappy fibers in between the hinges for texture, because sometimes no-sew bindings can feel a little flat. By the end I had 16 pages (plus an extra framing page for the cover), lots of different widths and flip-outs, and that really organic, handmade look I love. For the cover, I layered distressed paper, corrugated packaging for height and texture (like I did in my shabby chic topper video), and Tim Holtz ephemera—then inked it up with Vintage Photo. It turned out pretty good, and I share a flip-through plus ideas for what you could add next (pockets, tags, flippy flips, side tucks).
