What’s good — in this episode I’m literally recording an R&B song from scratch in Adobe Audition, and the biggest W is I finally got my mic working with live effects with no delay. That means I can actually hear the vibe while I’m tracking, switch chains fast, and it just makes the whole process way more fun (and these videos 10x better). I’m also trying to record more line-by-line so you’re not watching me skip around like last episode, and you’ll see me find the cadence, build the hook, knock out verses, and keep redoing takes until the delivery feels right. I route my vocals to a bus track, stack takes, and keep “maybe” takes around because you never know what ends up being the one. I also show how I handle quick background vocals by making a separate bus and going crazy with reverb/echo for that washed, airy support behind the lead. Most of what you’re hearing is Adobe Audition stock effects — the only non-stock stuff is my pitch tools (MetaTune / Antares Auto-Tune) and Fresh Air (free).
