About This Video

Good morning, guys—this vlog is a real look at what a day looks like over here when all four of my kids are sick. We got back from Disney and it hit us hard: fevers for days, negative flu tests, and then Jackson tested positive for strep, so we’re in the antibiotics-and-medicine-log era right now. The house is a mess, my suitcase is still not unpacked, and we’re just trying to keep everyone hydrated and comfortable while we ride it out. The biggest stressor for me is Sean, because whenever he gets sick, his cough can turn into that scary wheezy, barky situation. So we’re doing nebulizer treatments (and making a HUGE deal when he actually does the mask), and honestly I’m saying yes to things I normally wouldn’t—like the iPad—because keeping him calm matters more than anything. I also share how Harper’s separation anxiety is next-level right now (I literally couldn’t do a face mask because she didn’t recognize me), plus what we’re doing to stay on top of meds, probiotics with antibiotics, and even switching toothbrushes so we don’t reinfect. And from a faith perspective, this week really reminded me: caring for sick kids is not “less than” ministry. This is the corporal works of mercy in real life—caring for the sick, feeding people, giving water—at 4 a.m. in your own home. If you’re in the thick of it too, I’m praying for you. Love your faces.
