In this video I’m digging into something most riders never really look at: what your snowboard’s factory tune actually reveals—and whether it matters once you get on snow. I made this one because I care about authenticity and transparency. A factory tune is basically the brand’s first impression: do they sweat the details, or do they just ship it and hope you don’t notice? I strip off the anti-rust coating, mark the edges, and then start checking what’s really going on with bevels and angles. I walk through base bevel and side edge angle checks, and I talk about consistency—because that’s the real tell. The tune can absolutely be altered (and often should be, depending on your riding), but I still want it to be well executed from the start. I also get into why some boards—especially wider decks—may benefit from a bit more base bevel, and what that means for how the board feels when you’re rolling edge-to-edge. The takeaway: factory tunes aren’t sacred, but they do matter as a baseline, and they tell you whether the factory actually cares about the product they’re sending out the door.
