About This Video

In this quick clip I’m talking about one of the most common toe-side carve mistakes I see: people trying to “touch snow” by dragging their hands. It looks cool for half a second, but it usually means you’re folding at the waist, dumping pressure off the edge, and turning your carve into a skid. If you want that low, surfy toe carve without getting bucked or washing out, the goal isn’t to reach down with your hands—it’s to move your body the right way. What I want you to focus on is bringing your hip to the snow instead. When you lead with the hip and keep your upper body stacked, you can stay strong through the ankles and knees, keep the board on edge, and actually hold the line. The hands can stay calm and balanced—your edge angle and body position do the work. If you’re chasing cleaner carves, start here: stop hand-dragging for style points and build a toe-side position that’s stable, repeatable, and way more powerful.
