About This Video

In this one I’m hiking up to Timber Headwall at Fernie Alpine Resort and doing a proper “know before you go” breakdown of what you’re actually getting into up there. Even though it’s inbounds, this is expert freeride terrain—steep, committing, and full of places where a small mistake turns into a big problem fast. I show the climb, the views, and then I ride Timber Headwall so you can see the pitch and the fall-line reality from a POV angle. After the first lap, I stop and talk through how to think about lines like this: where the entrances are, how the chutes shape your speed and turn options, and why it matters to have a plan before you drop. Then I ride another chute called “Pinner,” with a POV run and a second angle from below, so you can see how the terrain funnels and what it looks like when you’re watching someone from the runout. The big takeaway is simple: do your homework, read the mountain, and treat steep inbounds terrain with the same respect you’d give the backcountry—because the consequences don’t care where the rope line is.
