I tested viral launches and a few staples while I created a pinky-purple Valentine’s Day vibe, and I focused on what I always focus on: how it applies on dark skin, how it sits on texture, and how it’s going to wear on oily skin. The star for me is the NYX Make Them Wonder Soft Matte Foundation. It looks like real skin—just smoother and more even—and the coverage is so good it covered my hyperpigmentation without feeling heavy. I also tried the e.l.f. Soft Glam Satin Concealer (yes, $5!) and I loved how creamy it was and how effortlessly it blended, but it can dry down if you let it sit too long. For powders, I used my NYX Wonder Snatch powders (I’m enjoying them), then tested Milani’s new baked bronzers and baked blushes—beautiful, smooth, and very radiant, but the blushes are more luminous than my personal preference because I like to add my own highlight. I also shared a quick “save your coins” moment: the L’Oréal Lumi Bronze wasn’t deep enough for me, so it’s not worth it for my complexion.
