In this video, I tested a full face of brand new drugstore and affordable makeup to see what’s actually a hit and what you can skip. I used these new releases to create a soft, everyday glam look (I did my eyes first with the Revolution Master Icon palette), and then I went in with the NYX Make ’Em Wonder 24H Soft Matte Foundation. I tested it with no primer because I always want to see what a foundation can do on bare skin—especially on my oily-skin areas and around my cheeks where texture can show up fast. The finish honestly surprised me: super skin-like, lightweight, and the coverage covered my hyperpigmentation with a small amount… but the shade I picked (Deep Rich cool) pulled very warm/red on me. From there I layered in more newness: NYX Buttermelt Glaze Highlighter Sticks for a glow-from-within moment (and I loved that it didn’t lift my foundation), plus CoverGirl’s True Blend Skin Enhancer Balm Blush Stick… which was creamy, but the color payoff was more of a “hint” than a bold blush on my skin. I also tested the NYX Wonder Snatch powders (the packaging looks warm, but the powders blended in nicely and didn’t look overly dry), tried the Morphe Cloud Light powders (pretty glow, but the under-eye shade I used looked ashy on me), and finished with the Revolution Wrap Lash tubing mascara in burgundy, Juvia’s Place ultra-matte setting spray (strong scent!), and NYX Lip Lingerie liner stains for a vampy lip that works great on my darker lips.
