Do drugstore and high-end makeup actually play well together… like, are the formulas on the same page? In this video I did a full face “do they mix” test with new luxury and drugstore products, and I focused on how everything applies, layers, and wears together (not price comparisons). I went in with the Patrick Ta Major Dimensions palette in Deep for a warm, dimensional eye, then used a luxury primer and the Patrick Ta Major Skin Hydrolux foundation again because I needed to confirm whether it’s really a breakout culprit for me. For complexion, I tested the new Prada Micro-Correcting Blurring Concealer (I used two shades because you know I always do), and I loved how serum-like and lightweight it felt while still looking smooth under my eyes. I also tried the Huda Beauty Easy Bake pressed powder in Cinnamon Bun—and I’ll be honest, I side-eyed that $40 price and the cheap compact with no applicator, plus I’m still not happy about deeper shades disappearing. But on the skin, it looked really beautiful and velvety, even though I still prefer locking things in with other powders for longevity on my oily skin. The biggest takeaway: mixing luxury and drugstore can absolutely work, but you have to pay attention to formula compatibility and what actually sets and lasts on deeper, oily skin.
