About This Video

Hi everyone, I’m JD from Willowbound Journals, and in this video I’m sharing a flip through of a vintage sewing journal that I absolutely loved making. The cover is made from granny chic pages featuring a sewing machine, and I carried that crafting theme all the way through—crochet, knitting, embroidery, sewing—using a really cozy mix of vintage ledger, stamped pages, doilies, tags, and pockets. I also tucked in my sewing pattern tags (with writing space on the back), pattern paper (including a rare blue print that I don’t see very often), and little bits like a playing card and a guest check. A big part of this journal for me was the feeling of connection—especially to my grandmas. I’ve been slow stitching daily with my grandma’s threads, and it’s honestly become a practice that makes me feel close to her. One grandma sewed clothes for me, and the other made doilies, embroidery, and crochet, so this journal felt like a meeting place for both of them. This one is already sold to a dear patron, but it’s sparked new ideas—like a “dainty florals” journal, and even an heirloom-style journal project or course inspired by family ephemera, fabric, photos, and threads.
