In this video I’m sharing a flip through of a very highly specific journal I made around a 21st birthday theme. I loved collecting for it for a year or two—literally just popping anything to do with “21” into a basket—and it was so satisfying seeing it all come together. The cover is vintage wrapping paper, and inside I’ve packed it with vintage ephemera, including an invitation to a 21st party, library card details, gorgeous vintage ledger pages, guest checks, scorecards, playing cards, and lots of tactile vintage greeting cards. One of my favorite threads running through this journal is the key imagery—because I just love keys in general—so the 21st theme worked perfectly for me. A lot of the pieces were passed down through family (my sister-in-law’s family), and I also used some 21st birthday cards I’d been hoarding for years because I couldn’t quite justify using them for myself. The roses and pink/red tones showing up across the cards inspired me to add rose ephemera throughout too. This journal is available in my Etsy, and I’m just trusting it will go to the right person at the right time and become a special, meaningful treasure.
