In this video I’m sharing a little behind-the-scenes process clip from my Vision Journal Course, where we’re altering a book and collaging with magazine images and words to document our vision for 2026. For this particular spread, I’m focusing on my big project for the year: the sequel to my first book, Lamp in Dark Places. I wanted to bring this onto my channel too so you can journey with me through the whole adventure, with updates and progress reports as I go. I chat you through exactly how I’m working right now: I’m dedicating three hours every Thursday night to the book, straight after dance, before I meet with my creative circle (we’ve been meeting weekly since Liberate in 2023). I started by setting up a “book journal” as a catch-all place for themes, chapter ideas, quotes, lyrics, notes, and permissions—everything in one spot. Now I’m in the gathering phase: going page-by-page through my journals from 2024 onward, typing anything I might include into a Word document, printing it, and then highlighting what’s definitely staying. It’s basically my old uni essay method, but my own journals are the source material. More than anything, I share my heart behind bookmaking: yes, the physical book is wonderful, but the real gift is the journey—how writing shapes you, helps you understand yourself, and (for me) becomes a way of holding myself together. And ultimately, I believe sharing our stories helps people suffer less, because it reminds them they’re not alone.
