Hi everyone, I’m JD from Willowbound Journals, and in this video I’m sharing a flip through of a journal I had so much fun making—an Australian flora and fauna themed junk journal. I pulled together Aussie ephemera I’ve collected over the years and tried to fill the pages with animals and blossoms that feel really familiar to me, especially the ones I associate with the area I grew up in. The cover has a beautiful gum blossom (it always makes me think of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie), and inside you’ll see lots of collage, pockets, tags, and vintage touches like music paper and a “this book belongs to” card. As I flip through, I talk about the birds that really take me back—magpies, kookaburras, and the crimson rosella—plus cockatoos and rainbow lorikeets from nearby towns. There are vintage Australian stamps (including stamps with famous Australian paintings), a glassine bag full of stamps, an old Australian coin, and even a little “made in Australia” photo slide from my grandma with her handwriting on it.
