In this video, my family and I head to IKEA after a nice hike, and let me tell you—Thursday night felt real good because I didn’t have to cook. We came with birthday rewards (Joshua and Mommy) plus those IKEA Advent calendar goodies I told y’all not to sleep on: free meal cards and $5 off coupons you can combine. I show you what we grabbed—meatballs, chicken strips, drinks, and of course that coffee (because IKEA has the best coffee, period). We also got Joshua’s free birthday chocolate cake, and it was rich, dark, thick, and decadent—five out of five. But the star for me? Plantains. I tried plantains for the first time with their seasonal Cuban-style chicken dish, and I’m officially in love. They were firm, a little lemony, slightly banana-like, and straight up a five out of five. The chicken was moist and tender, the whole plate was a win, and I’m over here like…why haven’t I been eating plantains? After dinner, we walked it off with a cozy IKEA spring walkthrough—pink and green displays, baskets, lanterns, table runners, cute little kitchen setups, and even those fridges that look like cabinetry (they fooled me!). I also did my little “rock test” on the sofas and found some cozy picks, because y’all know I’m picky—and I love a home that feels peaceful, organized, and joyful.
