About This Video

If you’re looking at buying your first iPad or upgrading from an older one, this video is my honest hands-on review of Apple’s NEW M4 iPad Air. The big story here is the M4 chip—straight up one of my favorite M-series processors Apple has ever released. You’re getting desktop Mac-level performance on an iPad, it runs cool, and it can handle basically anything you throw at it, from productivity to gaming. On top of that, Apple is giving you 12GB of RAM base, which is wild when you remember the M4 iPad Pro started at 8GB unless you paid a ton more. I also break down the stuff that actually matters day-to-day: the design is basically unchanged, the colors are the same as before (I went blue, and it’s a nice faint blue-silver), and you’ve got 11-inch and 13-inch options. I’m still a big fan of the 11-inch for most people because it’s easy to travel with and doesn’t feel unwieldy. The display is the same 60Hz LCD Retina panel (500 nits), and the lack of ProMotion is the biggest downside—but I’ll be real, I adjusted after a couple days. Battery is just okay at around 8 hours, and storage starting at 128GB is something you really need to think about before you creep into iPad Pro pricing.
