What’s up you guys—today I’m breaking down the snorkel upgrade head I’ve been running on my Tacoma and I’m actually showing you proof if it works or not. A lot of snorkels come with a basic open head that just sucks in dirt, debris, and whatever else you’re kicking up off-road. This upgrade (the Cyclone air pre-cleaner) is designed to help with that by creating a little “tornado” effect inside—there’s a fan that helps separate bigger particles and kick them out through the rear vent instead of letting all that junk go straight to your air filter. I also fixed something that’s been bugging me since the install: I had a gap because I didn’t trim the snorkel tube first. So I pulled the head off with an 11mm, cut the snorkel down, and got it sitting flush so it looks way cleaner. Then I showed you how the pre-cleaner works and jumped back to footage from 5 months earlier where I installed a brand new OEM Toyota engine air filter. Fast forward to now—after about 5 months, I opened the airbox and compared it to a brand new filter, and they’re almost identical. It’s not going to catch 100% of everything, but from what I’ve seen, it definitely helps keep your filter cleaner longer.
