About This Video

In this road trip video, I’m packing and setting up our van for a 10–12 hour drive with four kids (7, 4, 2, and 3 months). I walk you through how I keep things simple and easy to find—because on a road trip you’re constantly asking someone else to grab something. I mostly use clear containers or open boxes so you can see what’s inside, and I pack all of our clothes into one suitcase using Planet Wise packing cubes (each kid gets a color). I also show the “kitchen” type items I bring (dish soap for bottles, Lysol wipes, Boon rack, formula container, laundry detergent, sunscreen, etc.) so we’re not scrambling once we arrive. Then I break down our food setup (coolers, sandwich containers, water bottles, and snack containers) and the activity bins I make for each kid. My toddler’s bin is all about hands-on toys he can stick right to the container, my daughter gets a Polly Pocket set she can play with right on the lid, and my oldest gets a LEGO kit organized into bags so he can sort pieces in the tray. I also share what I keep up front for the baby and toddler (portable sound machine with AAA batteries, indestructible books, mess-free markers), plus my diaper bag setup with my My Elkie bag—because for messy kids on long drives, wipeable + functional wins every time.
