What is up YouTube? It is Hollywood Floss, the worst producer of all time, and in this one I’m going back and forth between Spawn 2 and Scaler 3 for a straight cook up. The whole idea is simple: use Spawn when you want quick inspiration and sound design, and use Scaler 3 when you need that heavy music theory sauce—especially those 70s funk / soul / R&B style chords with four (or more) notes that just sound more pleasing to the ears. I start in Spawn with a hip-hop vibe around 91 BPM, flipping the era to that 90s feel, and I like starting with ethnic and soundscapes/keys to get the vibe going fast. Now here’s the catch: Spawn will give you a limited batch of MIDI (about 8–10 ideas). If none of those are grabbing you, that’s where Scaler 3 comes in. I’ll build out the chord progression, add expressions, keep stacking melodies, articulations, basslines, sequences—the whole nine—and then drop that MIDI back into Spawn. That’s when it gets crazy, because you’re doing sound design and music theory all in one, and you can even swap in outside sounds (like Nexus) while still using Spawn’s effects engine to make it sound totally different… and in my opinion, better. That’s the Scaler 3 + Spawn 2 connection.
