In this short film (Homeless Pt. 2), I follow John and his son Zuzu while they’re trying to survive a brutal winter on the streets after John gets fired and they can’t afford their home anymore. Zuzu keeps asking why they can’t just go back to the warm house with his favorite blankie and rocket ship bed, and honestly that’s what makes this one hit harder—because it’s from a kid’s point of view. I show them asking for help, getting judged, and dealing with people who are either rude, performative, or just straight-up cruel. But I also made sure the story isn’t only hopeless. There are strangers who actually help in real ways—like giving them food (pizza) and even a small toy bear that becomes “Mr. Bear,” which is such a tiny thing but it means everything when you have nothing. And then we meet Magic, who explains she used to be homeless too, and she offers John and Zuzu a place to stay and help getting back on their feet. The takeaway is basically: some people will treat you like trash, but kindness matters so much, and it can literally change someone’s whole life.
