PC part pricing is kind of crazy right now, so in this video I walk through what you can actually build TODAY if you’re trying to be smart with your money. I put together three gaming PC parts lists around $1,000, $1,500, and $2,000 using live Newegg pricing to keep it realistic—and I call out the pockets of value, the stuff that’s “pretty good right now,” and the parts I think you should avoid (or at least think twice about). For the sub-$1,000 build, I start with the GPU because that’s still the biggest lever for gaming performance. I land on an RX 9060 XT 16GB, then make the kind of compromises I don’t love but that make sense at this price—like sticking to 16GB RAM and going DDR4 to free up budget for the GPU. At $1,500, I wipe the basket and move to a newer platform with a Ryzen 5 9600X and B850, aiming for better upgrade paths and modern connectivity. And at $2,000, the good news is you can still build something genuinely strong: RX 9070 XT, 7800X3D, 2TB NVMe, and a better B850 board—just don’t forget the PSU (yes, I did).
