Selling your motorhome? Be warned: a possible new "fake dealer" scam is targeting private sellers with aggressive tactics and possibly rigged equipment. We almost got caught out by a buyer who claimed our Bursner Aviano was riddled with damp. We decided to put our Bursner Aviano up for sale to upgrade to something newer, but what happened on Sunday afternoon was a total shock. After a long trip to Brazil, we were back when a what we thought was a "private buyer" contacted us on Facebook. Instead of a lady we thought we were dealing with, a man turned up in a motorhome company jacket with an accomplice waiting in a silver Mercedes estate with the engine running. He used a damp meter to claim the van was "going off all over the place," being incredibly obnoxious and trying to scare us into a low-ball price. After Vee rightfully told him to leave our house, we did our own research. We bought our own damp meter from Amazon, and the results were shocking: the "damp" he found didn't exist. We couldn't find a trace of his company on Google or Facebook—it was all a setup. We're sharing this to make sure you don't lose your prized possession to these dishonest tactics. Las Vegas wasn’t always LED screens and mega-resorts. Before the Strip became what it is today, neon signs lit the desert and defined the city’s identity. In this video, we visit the Neon Museum — often called the Neon Boneyard — to uncover the stories behind the glowing signs that helped build Las Vegas. From legendary casinos to long-forgotten hotels, each piece of neon tells a chapter of Vegas history. We walk through the collection, explore how neon transformed the city’s image, and explain why these signs mattered so much — not just for advertising, but for creating the iconic Las Vegas atmosphere people still chase today. If you love culture, design, photography, or classic Vegas nostalgia, this is one attraction that feels more like a living history lesson than a museum. It’s quiet, reflective, and surprisingly emotional — especially if you remember the old Strip. Whether you’re planning a trip or just curious about how Las Vegas became Las Vegas, this is a side of the city most visitors never see. 🎲 LAS VEGAS ADVENTURES: The Full Las Vegas Playlist ➔ https://tr.ee/HgFLPs (Binge-watch the entire series from start to finish) 👉 Subscribe for budget travel, vanlife & real-world adventures 🌍 TRAVEL PLANNING & ESSENTIALS Buses & Trains in Asia: https://12go.asia/?z=11180835 eSIM (15% OFF): https://airalo.pxf.io/c/6088765/2071037/15608 NordVPN (73% OFF): https://nordvpn.com/footstepstyretracks Our Favorite Itineraries: https://plannin.com/en?refId=FootstepsTyretracks 💳 TRAVEL CARDS WE USE Starling: https://www.starlingbank.com/referral?code=Udl4ja Revolut: https://revolut.com/referral/?referral-code=marcz55v!NOV1-25-VR-GB-MDL-CTRL&geo-redirect 🚐 GEAR & MERCH Our Travel & Vanlife Gear: https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/footstepstyretracks Get the Merch: https://footsteps-tyretracks-shop.fourthwall.com Our Soundtrack (Epidemic Sound): https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/fpupd2 📸 FOLLOW THE ADVENTURE Blog: https://footstepstyretracks.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/footsteps_tyretracks Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/footstepstyretracks Support our adventures on Ko-fi ➔ https://ko-fi.com/footstepstyretracks (Exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes, and video credits) 📩 BUSINESS ENQUIRIES footstepstyretracks@gmail.com 00:00 Why we are selling the Bursner Aviano 01:00 The suspicious Facebook message 02:15 A "Dealer" arrives: The Ring Doorbell footage 03:45 The Damp Meter tactic: Scaring the seller 05:00 Vee kicks the scammer out of the house 06:30 Investigating the fake company 07:45 We bought our own damp meter (The Truth) 09:15 Final warning to the Vanlife community #MotorhomeScam #VanlifeUK #CampervanSellingTips

About This Video

This is a video I genuinely didn’t plan to make, but after what happened when we tried selling our Bürstner Aviano, I feel like we have to warn people. We’d just got back from Brazil and had a few viewings lined up. One Facebook contact asked all the “right” questions—habitation check, service history, keys, paperwork—so we assumed it was a normal private buyer coming round on Sunday. What actually turned up was a bloke in what looked like a motorhome dealer jacket, with another guy sat outside in a silver Mercedes estate with the engine running. Straight away the vibe was off. He got a damp meter out and started claiming the van was “going off all over the place”, being obnoxious and trying to scare us into believing the motorhome was riddled with damp so we’d accept a low-ball price. Vee ended up telling him to leave our house. Afterwards we did our own checks: we ordered our own damp meter from Amazon and tested the exact areas he’d pointed at—nothing like what he claimed. We also tried to find his “company” online and couldn’t find a website, Facebook page, or anything legit. Our takeaway is simple: know your van, don’t get bullied, and don’t give up your pride and joy because someone turns up looking “professional” with kit that might not be honest.
