Explore the legendary Hippie Village in Arembepe, Brazil. See the community where Mick Jagger and Janis Joplin hung out and discover this hidden coastal gem. Welcome back to the channel! We are continuing our slow venture around the world, and today we've landed in a place with a truly unique vibe. We started the day looking for the Project Tamar turtle conservation charity, only to find it closed. However, that led us to an even better "accidental discovery", the Aldeia Hippie (Hippie Village) in Arembepe. This village is famous for hosting icons like Bob Marley and Janis Joplin back in the day. We spent the morning wandering through the arts and crafts park, meeting incredible local artisans like Fernando and Edgar. From hand-painted tiles to crystals and Amazonian stones, the talent here is immense. We also brave the "baking" sand to check out the beach huts where you can actually stay right on the ocean. About This Video

Day seven in Brazil and we had one of those classic “plan A failed, plan B was better” mornings. We set off to visit Project Tamar (the turtle conservation place) and turned up to find it closed with no obvious opening times. Instead of letting it ruin the day, we followed the coast and accidentally discovered the Aldeia Hippie (Hippie Village) in Arembepe—this laid-back little spot that’s famous for legends like Janis Joplin, Mick Jagger and Bob Marley hanging out here back in the day. We wandered through the arts and crafts area first, and honestly the vibe hit us straight away—welcoming, local, and different to the big-city Portuguese feel in Salvador. We met artisans like Fernando (crystals, stones, Amazonian bits) and Edgar, who painted a tile in minutes right in front of us. We also clocked the beach huts where you can stay right on the sand (which was absolutely baking), plus camping signs if that’s your thing—though I’ll be honest, a tent in that heat sounds brutal. If you’re doing Brazil on a budget and want something that still feels a bit off the European trail, this is a proper little gem to put on the map.
